FishPac receives Thailand Civil Aviation Approval
We take great delight in announcing that FishPac has recently secured approval for Thailand seafood operators to use the world’s only approved oxygen-sustained live seafood airfreight transport system.
It is a huge boon for one of Thailand’s largest industries.
The approval allows Thai live seafood exporters to export live seafood using the FishPac system, and allows live seafood importers to receive FishPac shipments at all Thailand ports.
With this approval in place, FishPac offers great opportunities and the potential for increased profit margins to the entire Thai live seafood industry. The FishPac system is patented worldwide, and is the world’s only IATA approval transport system for air freighting live aquatic animals, sustained with oxygen.
To date, the FishPac system has shipped close to 300,000 bins of live seafood around the world. We estimate these 300,000 bins of fish are worth close to USD$8 billion, while FishPac represents a shift from unsustainable and highly costly polystyrene shipping models to a highly efficient and sustainable system.
Most importantly, out of this USD$8 billion, we believe around USD$1 billion of live seafood has been saved by FishPac’s significantly reduced mortality rates.
FishPac's average mortality is 1% versus 12% with polystyrene boxes. With such massive changes in mortality rates and productivity in packing and shipping, FishPac clients are seeing 100% return on investment in as little as three months when converting to FishPac’s system.
As well as added financial benefits, The FishPac system is removing thousands of tonnes of polystyrene from circulation, something which is vitally important from an environmental perspective. We continue to work with the World Wildlife Foundation, and other environmental groups, who are not only seriously concerned about fishing sustainability, but also climate change and the affect that products like poly styrene have on the environment. Working on a traditional 6kg of fish per styrene box, FishPac has been directly responsible for eradicating 17.5 million styrene boxes from industry use. This, combined with significant mortality reductions, which aids sustainability by reducing over fishing, is a core aspect of the FishPac business model, and something we are looking forward to introducing to Thailand in the very near future.
We look forward to welcoming our first Thai clients and improving their investment in Thailand’s seafood trade.
